Boro, the Art of Tattered Patches: Lecture Series

  • Thread Lab 427 East Colorado Avenue Colorado Springs, CO, 80903 United States (map)

Ruth Chandler had the privilege of a childhood in Japan where she was introduced to so many Japanese art forms. Boro is one that resonates with her and all of us especially today with the upcycle and slow movements. Boro means tattered rags in Japanese. The clothing and items with Boro patching were literally used for generations. Ruth will share some of her stories of time in Japan and lead you through the history and “generations” that represent the Boro process. Please see our additional lecture and accompanying pop-up class with Ruth.
